İmza Toplayan Adam
Alex-Li Tandem earns his living by collecting and trading signatures of famous people. Alex, who is both Jewish and Chinese, wakes up one morning and realizes that the three sweet days he spent under the influence of a drug called "superstar" have changed his whole life: He had an accident with the car that included his girlfriend, he has fallen out with all his friends, and most importantly, he has ten hands in his hand. There is a signed photograph of former Hollywood star Kitty Alexander, to whom she wrote a letter every week and asked for her autograph since she was four years old.
The public, which does not like to be ignored, has forgotten her, but never the Signature Collecting Men! They are masochists because they cannot be despised by humiliation. As a matter of fact, Alex is not satisfied with having Kitty's handwriting, for which his colleagues would pay a fortune just to have a single signature. He is a devoted fan of Kitty, and admiration is no different than looking through a tunnel: such a hot, dark and one-way blindness.
Finally, he decides to spend a week chasing his dreams and go to New York to find Kitty. Behind him is a beautiful girlfriend whose pacemaker will be replaced and whose heart will be captured, a black prophet lost in the mysterious world of Kabbalah, a crazy rabbi who always demands the impossible from him, a platonic lover whose biggest flaw is watching too many American movies, and his wife. He has left a cat that does not distinguish between the species it will hunt when it is hungry.
Zadie Smith, who shook the literary world and made an award-winning show with her first novel, Teeth Like Pearls, again combines many colorful characters and different subjects with her unique sense of humor in her second novel, The Man Who Collects Autographs. It brings the reader together and offers the reader an extremely funny and existential journey. Meanwhile, he does not refrain from making fun of the disease of our age in his own way:
