The greatest contribution of Greek philosophy and the thought based on it to the history of humanity is the "discovery of the mind". It is an obvious fact that ancient philosophy cannot be understood correctly without knowing the thoughts that emerged as a result of this "discovery", the philosophers who represented them, their theories and the systematic methods behind them. Based on this, the author of this five-volume work, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Arslan states that the method he tried to follow while writing the book was "to rely on the philosophers' own works and primary sources" and thus the reader will have the opportunity to "directly encounter the philosopher's text". Prof. Dr. Ahmet Arslan deals with Epicureanism, Stoics and Skeptics in the fourth volume of the History of Ancient Philosophy, which he devotes to the Philosophy of the Hellenistic Period. After analyzing Epicureanism, which is the most discredited among the Hellenistic schools of philosophy, based on the views of Epicurus and Lucretius, Arslan discusses Stoicism, which is the longest-lived among these schools, and reveals the differences of Stoic logic from Aristotle's logic; It examines the effects of skeptics in the East as well as in the Western world of thought. In the work, the natural and moral philosophies, theories of existence and logic, and understanding of the universe of these philosophical schools are examined with rich examples.

Epicurus, Lucretius, Zeno of Cyprus, Cleanthes, Chrysippus, Panaitios, Poseidonios, Seneca, Epitetus, Marcus Aurelius, Sextus Empiricus, Carneades, Kleitomachus, Pyrrhus, Anaxarchus
