İlkçağ Felsefe Tarihi 2 - Sofistlerden Platon'a
The greatest contribution of Greek philosophy and the thought based on it to the history of humanity is the "discovery of the mind". It is an obvious fact that ancient philosophy cannot be understood correctly without knowing the thoughts that emerged as a result of this "discovery", the philosophers who represented them, their theories and the systematic methods behind them. Based on this, the author of this five-volume work, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Arslan states that the method he tried to follow while writing the book was "to rely on the philosophers' own works and primary sources" and thus the reader will have the opportunity to "directly encounter the philosopher's text". In the second volume of the History of Ancient Philosophy, titled From Sophists to Plato, Ege University faculty member Ahmet Arslan first examines the Sophists and makes a general evaluation of their specific doctrines and views. In the second part of the book, the life, personality and death of Socrates, who emerged as a reaction to the Sophists, are included and information is given about the Little Socratic schools. In the third part of his work, Arslan describes Plato, whom Farabi calls 'Divine Plato', and his worldview defined as Platonism, with all its aspects; It deals with the basic teachings on existence, knowledge, nature, religion and political philosophy.
