He was tried in the inquisition and sentenced to house arrest for the Dialogue Concerning the Two Great World Systems, on which he worked for sixteen years. During his imprisonment he completed his second masterpiece, Dialogue Concerning Two New Sciences. Both works were translated into many languages in a short time and went down in history as the beginning of modern science. Dialogues is neither just an astronomy nor a physics book. While conducting a close polemic with the thought of Aristotle, who represents the authority, Galileo, with his observational, experimental and theoretical knowledge, rediscovers "the language in which nature is written" and establishes his own new physics based on mathematics. The dialogues that Galileo presented to the ordinary reader, not to the ruling class, were written in Italian instead of Latin, with the concern of being understood.
