Journey to Ikaria Etienne Cabet's utopian novel Journey to Ikaria, written in 1842, is one of the classics of the utopia genre. Cabet, who complains about the social relations and management styles of the period in which he lives, the excess of property and the lack of justice, and longs for the return of man's lost central position in life, dreams of a utopian commune called "Young Ikaria". This is a community where everything is calculated and governed by rules, and where justice and equality are not associated with any reason other than being human. The book made a wide impact and gathered fans at the time it was published. Although Cabet tried to realize Journey to Ikaria, which has an important place among Practical Utopias, in 1847 with 500 of his supporters, the group disbanded with Cabet's death and Ikaria quietly took its place in the history of utopias.
