Ibn Battuta (1304-1368), a 14th century traveler, was born in Tangier, Morocco. Ibn Battuta visited Egypt, the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, Iran, Anatolia (mainly principalities), Dest-i Kipchak, Byzantium (Istanbul), Central Asia, India, Maldives, China and Andalusia during his travels that lasted 28 years since the day he left this city. It successfully reflects the situation of these countries and cities 700 years ago, with their state and social structures, beliefs and customs, natural features and products.
