Hindistan'a Bir Geçit
Edward Morgan Forster, in A Passage to India published in 1924, describes India under the rule of the British Empire as belonging to two different cultures. It tells about the prejudices and misunderstandings that hinder people's efforts to get closer. Examines the East-West problematic. Doctor Aziz, a young Muslim, wants to get closer to the occupying British and understand them, but he is disappointed with the treatment he receives. Mrs. Moore, who comes to visit her son, judge Ronny, sympathizes with Aziz. The judge brought with him a young woman, Adele Quested, whom he planned to marry. Adele, who wants to know the 'real India', intends to act differently from the arrogant British administrators and break taboos. During a trip to the Marabar Caves planned by Doctor Aziz, unexpected events occur and the hostility between the two races reaches its peak. A Passage to India, one of Forster's most popular novels, can also be read as his impressions of the days he spent in this exotic country.
