I'm at the End of Everything: Tezer Özlü-Ferid Edgü Letters 1966-1985
Ferit Edgü, who knew Tezer Özlü when he was a child, became his friend, (at times) confidant and publisher over time.
This book contains the letters these two close friends wrote to each other in the Istanbul/Paris/Ankara axis (most of them during the difficult days when Tezer's illness relapsed). In these letters, which the two writers, who see writing as an existential problem, never thought of publishing, we are faced with the stark naked world that we know from Tezer Özlü's books, especially Cold Nights of Childhood and Journey to the Edge of Life.
“Finding and reading your letter this morning made both life and eventual death more bearable for me. Suddenly the high mountains, the still gray slopes, the white snow on the hills, the quiet little Swiss villages made sense and my feet touched the ground for the first time since I arrived here. “Nothing could have encouraged me more than your words at this important time in my life.”
