Hayalet Kitap
Back Cover Text (From the Promotional Bulletin)
“Don’t see what I have written as a suicide letter. As they say, 'Every suicide letter is a love letter.' Actually, 'Every suicide letter is a love novel,' too. In other words, this last letter you have received is no different from the ones I have written to you before. This is also a love letter, and this is also a story.”
Güldem, the heroine of Hayalet Kitap, finds a letter in her mailbox one morning. The writer of the letter is Gökalp, who is devoted to her with an unrequited love. Gökalp bids Güldem farewell with a suicide letter. Strange events begin on the first anniversary of Gökalp’s death. Now Güldem and her friends have to fight a ghost in various parts of İzmir and on the university campus.
Doğu Yücel's book, first published in 2002, was reprinted many times and was adapted for the big screen by Taylan Brothers in 2004. In addition to being a ghost story, Hayalet Kitap has been a novel that has attracted attention since the day it was published with its critical look at the education system and its detailed portrayal of university students' campus life.
"This gripping adventure, which pushes the boundaries of fantasy and reality, will steal your heart with its stylish references to music and literature. Just turn the first page."
