Harput-Historical Cities and Armenians
Harput, the third book of the 14-volume 'Historical Cities and Armenians' series compiled by the famous historian Richard G. Hovannisian, deals with the Golden Plain of Armenian history, the ancient city engraved in the imagination of many writers, as well as Malatya, Arapkir, Egin and Dersim regions. While the book includes discussions on the origins of the Armenians, the architecture of Harput, the Euphrates College founded by US missionaries and the presence of the US consulate in the region, the development of rural literature, one of the main veins of Armenian literature, and how it transformed after the Catastrophe is also interpreted. .
Harput offers the opportunity to penetrate the multi-layered history of Anatolia with articles that look at history from a different perspective and are the product of long-term research.
The volumes 'Bitlis and Mus' and 'Van' were previously published as part of the Historical Cities and Armenians series.
