Halepsizler
Alepposizler brings together the story of a people who survived the disasters at the beginning of the twentieth century and rose from the ashes in Aleppo with the story of an ancient city that turned to ashes exactly one hundred years later and tried to be reborn. The book consists of Serdar Korucu's interviews with twenty-two Armenians from Aleppo who escaped from the Syrian Civil War and migrated to various parts of the world, especially Armenia and Turkey. These interviews, in addition to reflecting the daily life of Aleppo before the war, enable us to see the social conflicts and the horror of war that led the country to civil war through the eyes of Armenians. Even though Syria ceased to be the homeland they knew and became completely different with the conflicts, the people of Aleppo, who resisted leaving their homeland for a long time, tell how they survived in the war until they made this decision and make the reader feel what it means to live with war. Each of the stranded Aleppo residents interviewed by Korucu, after telling about his escape journey, whether alone, leaving his family behind, or continuing with his extended family, also reveals the insight, expectations and disappointments of the life that awaits them in the places they reach. Alepposizler examines the lives of the displaced people, who are dispersed by the violence of war.
