“In this book, the political atmosphere of the time and the purpose and results of the massacre that took place as a result of the events in Maraş in 1978 are considered and the aim and results of the events are targeted. Although the events were triggered by the Alevi-Sunni, rightist-leftist conflict, the dimensions of the event produced different political results. The aims and implementation of the events are fictionalized in the work. The persons, ideas and institutions mentioned in the narration are named completely with imaginary fiction. In the political process of the time throughout the region, under the name of the threat of anti-communism, attacks and massacres were carried out against the Alevi masses, who were mostly under the influence of leftist thought. After the events, the Alevi segment, which constituted approximately ten percent of the city center population, disposed of their homes and workplaces in various ways and left the city. After the massacre, the Alevi mass, who were mostly Kurdish in the region, started to migrate to metropolitan cities and Europe. The city of Maraş was called Marereş (Karayılan) by the Alevi segment for a while after the massacre. Those who remained in the region and the Alevi masses who were displaced and dispersed were generally pacified in the process. However, the developments following the Maraş incidents ended with the internationally supported military junta coup of September 12, 1980. The military junta prepared a constitution that was in line with their own views and listed all the prohibitions, with orders and directives. It controlled the society politically, socially and culturally with a militaristic authoritarian understanding.”
