On the Movements of the Celestial Spheres - Hasan Ali Yücel Classics
Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) was born in Torun, Poland. Besides theology, he was interested in mathematics and astronomy. For a while, he took lessons from well-known astronomers in Italy and worked with Domenico Maria Novara da Ferrara. He argued against Aristotle's view of the Universe and the World, which dominated the Middle Ages. His most important work, On the Motions of the Celestial Spheres, was published in 1543. He presented a new Sun-centered model as opposed to Ptolemaeus' Earth-centered model. Copernicus, who was in the ancient tradition of astronomy and cosmology, was accepted as the founder of modern astronomy with the views he put forward.
