In Turkey, migration studies have gained momentum as the reflections of migration in daily life, politics and economy have increased. While topics such as internal migration and migration to Western Europe characterized academic studies before the 1990s, interest in diversified migration flows emerged in the 1990s; This interest increased in the early 2000s and became widespread in the 2010s.

Although migration is a research subject that by its nature falls within the "field" of different disciplines, the interdisciplinary perspective is limited in studies conducted in Turkey. In these studies, it seems that there is more self-absorption. For this reason, the book you have in your hands aims to take a step towards interdisciplinarity by bringing together studies from different disciplines. The topics that the studies in the book focus on include the phenomenon of irregular migration, women's migration, discrimination, tourism-migration relationship, post-immigration and the position of the researcher in migration studies, which is not discussed much in the literature in Turkey.
