This book, written by Sumerologist Muazzez İlmiye Çığı, is a story covering the adventures of Gilgamesh, the Sumerian hero king who lived thousands of years ago.
The topics in this story were written on tablets in the form of an epic in cuneiform after being passed from mouth to mouth for centuries, starting from the age of Gilgamesh. The Babylonians compiled individual subjects written in Sumerian into a whole epic in the Akkadian language. Çığ added the stories written in Sumerian but not included in the epic, Xll, the ones written on the tablet, and the story about the birth of Gigameş, which is not in the epic but written as a poem in Akkadian, to his book. Thus, he gathered together the entire Gilgamesh epic and all the subjects written about Gilgamesh.
