Germinal
In the 1860s, mine workers in the north of France struggle to survive under harsh conditions. In addition to the constant danger of collapse or firedamp explosion in the mines where they work, they struggle with hunger and misery. The strike, which they saw as a last resort, is now inevitable for them. They are ready to risk anything, and the hope that sprouts within them is their biggest supporter. Unfortunately, their resistance is brutally suppressed. Now only death, blood, tears and vanished dreams remain.
Germinal is one of the most important works in the history of world literature. Zola, who wrote about the great suffering of people in a language that is as realistic and universal as it is impressive, has created an epic with this novel.
It is a work that will be read breathlessly, dragging the reader from one emotion to another in every line, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes making him angry, sometimes giving him hope.
