I read Yılmaz's stories once again yesterday and could not sleep at night: Yılmaz's youth stories did not attract the attention of the "criticism" of the period when they were published. Because criticism always acts with the prejudice of considering some writers as "in" and others as "out". But there comes a time when he shows the courage to crown an author he once disregarded. Just like Yılmaz receiving the Orhan Kemal Novel Award for "They Died with Bent Neck". The literary features and pioneering qualities of youth stories have not yet been evaluated, but that will happen one day. But the imprisonment and exile experienced because of the political obsessions of a period are now an irreversible "phenomenon". That's why I couldn't sleep last night as I thought about this period in Yılmaz's life, during which I was a close witness.
