Gece Müdürü
In his first post-Cold War novel, Le Carré explores the extent of the ruthlessness of arms dealers. How ruthless do you have to be to have unlimited wealth?
On the gloomy night of the Gulf War, a very special visitor, Mr. Richard Roper, checks into a luxurious hotel in Zurich. Night manager Jonathan Pine instantly recognizes this arms dealer, to whose mercy he had been forced to leave the woman he loved in Cairo. The British secret service forces Pine, whom he has trained, on a dark journey after Roper. Finally, he gains Roper's trust enough to enter his island in the Bahamas and board his yacht. Here, while trying to learn the details of the arms transaction, he is again caught up in the charm of a woman.
"While under house arrest, I felt like I was traveling the world and connecting with people thanks to John Le Carré's books."
-Aung San Suu Kyi-
"In a world where scoundrels continue to shed blood and heroes are not so heroic, le Carré will continue to be our most astute observer."
