Gece Kelebeği
I can only tell you this much about the book in your hands:
Buy it and read it. When you finish reading it, you will see that this novel by Haydar Karataş is on par with the novels of Yaşar Kemal and Cengiz Aytmatov. If you want to read a great human tragedy in the style of a novel, I suggest you buy it again and read it. Three novels in my life made me cry. One is John Steinbeck's novel The Grapes of Wrath, which I read in 1965, when I was nineteen years old; The second is Robert Sabatier's Swedish Matches, which I read and introduced four or five years ago; The third one is Perperik-a Söe, which you are currently holding in your hand.
Gün Zileli
On one side, it is a painful homeland... on the other, it is as if it is a constant state of "homelessness"... Terrible poverty... devastating impossibility... The wound that throbs deep inside... The searing cruelty of the "center" that doesn't care... and the language that is helpless... The elderly trying to understand all this... adults... children... and their "child deaths"... This is what you will encounter, this is what you will live with Perperik -a in Söe. This novel, with its extraordinary language, is a scream from start to finish... an elegy from start to finish. I read it with surprise; It seems that such intense pain, such deep sorrow can be attributed to this, it seems that this is how it is explained.

It is as if it is between One Hundred Years of Loneliness and Lessing's Mara and Dann, it reveals a very strong composition. .. The description of geography, harsh nature, deprivation, and the effort to cope with that deprivation creates a chilling sight... It is as if we are wandering among the "Sand People", not in Dersim, but in a world hit by a nuclear war...
