Fetihnme / Consistent Book Description Fetihnâme, which describes the campaigns and conquests of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror (1451-1481), who transformed the Ottoman Empire into an empire, from the pen of a first-degree witness, and of which there is only one manuscript copy in the world, was first published as a facsimile in 1955 by the famous historian Franz Babinger. The campaigns of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, which continued uninterruptedly for thirty years from east to west, north to south, centering on Istanbul, were written in verse and prose in Kıvâmî's Fetihnâme. Therefore, the work, which sometimes feels like an epic or hagiography, sometimes displays epic examples from the prose of the period. We believe that Fetihnâme, which is an exemplary text in terms of recognizing the linguistic features of 15th century Anatolian Turkish, will reinforce its distinguished place in Ottoman history literature with this publication.
