Fermat'nın Son Teoremi
Fermat's Last Theorem has its roots in ancient Greek mathematics. Pierre de Fermat (1601-1665) poses a question that the Greeks had never thought of, and left a note that raises the hope that a solution can be found. He has an answer to this question, but he does not say what the solution is. Thus begins a chase that will last three hundred years. The real beauty of Fermat's Last Theorem is that it is a simple problem that is extremely easy to understand. Andrew Wiles became acquainted with this puzzle, which can be expressed with concepts familiar to every school child, during his school years and made it the most important passion of his life.
When Wiles started, many of the techniques he would later use had not yet been invented. He combined the work of the best mathematicians, connected ideas and created new concepts with an assertiveness that no one else could dare.
Everyone is considered to have worked on Fermat's solution, but separately from each other and without the aim of proving Fermat's Last Theorem; because this was a proof that required mobilizing all the power of modern mathematics.
In this book, all the richness of the Fermat story and the history and mathematics that have always accompanied him are discussed in chronological order, starting with the revolutionary ethos of the Brotherhood of Pythagoras and ending with Andrew Wiles' personal struggle to solve Fermat's puzzle.
