Eugenie Grandet-Hasan Ali Yücel Klasikler
Honore de Balzac (1799-1850): The great name of 19th century French literature. He started his literary career by writing plays. However, as a result of the criticism he received, he turned to novels. He completed 85 novels in twenty years, leaving behind 50 drafts of novels when he died. In 1830, he collected his fictional works under the title The Human Comedy, referring to Dante's Divine Comedy. He created more than 2000 characters, some of which became archetypes of literature over time, and he handled all these characters with an analytical approach free of prejudice, without isolating them from their social class. The social and realistic framework he added to the novel earned him the title of founder of the realistic novel. Eugenie Grandet, included under the title Scenes from Country Life in the Study of Manners part of The Human Comedy, was first published in 1834. The novel tells the touching story of Eugénie, who experiences love, mourning and pain in the shadow of her rich but stingy father.
