Ergenliğin Tutkusu
I remember from my own adolescence that the first thing taught in maritime classes was sailor's knots. Two important features of these knots, that they were very strong but could be untied very quickly when necessary, were emphasized. Adolescence also teaches the individual, and with him his family, environment and society, that the bonds between individuals must be strong but can be dissolved quickly when the time comes. Because the transition from childhood to adulthood may be possible by dissolving the bonds established with parents and establishing new ones, and tying new relationship knots.
Talat Parman, one of the few names who institutionalized psychoanalysis in Turkey, discusses adolescence with a deep and humane perspective, from education and family relations to sexuality and sexual identity.
Talat Parman is a founding member of the Istanbul Psychoanalysis Association and a formator analyst. He received medical education at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and psychiatry specialization training at Paris René Descartes University. For twenty years, she worked with children, adolescents and their families at Istanbul University Institute of Child Health, Department of Adolescence. He is an associate professor of psychiatry. He has books written on adolescence and psychoanalysis and translations of books by JB Pontalis. He is a member of the editorial board of the "Psychoanalysis Notebooks" series published by YKY.
