Labor: A Value on the Way to Disappearing?

Work, both in discourse and in reality, has always been a way of increasing product wealth for the nation, generating income for the individual, and making profits for the capitalist class. In addition to being a means of turning matter into products that humans can use, transforming nature, and humanizing the world, labor is one of the most important elements that connects the individual to society.
Dominique Méda raises again the question of whether work is truly something related to the essence of man. According to Méda, historically, work was not a phenomenon that dominated social life so much. Its influence on people has gradually increased since the 19th century, when economic thought came to the fore. So, is work really an indispensable way of life for society and the individual? Is it the only activity that people have to comply with in order to socialize and realize themselves?
While answering these questions, it also clarifies many other issues related to labor and work, such as the replacement of human power by tools, the development of the service sector, the responsibility of companies towards nature, and the ability of every individual to earn an income.
