Let's Read Hand in Hand - Articles and Interviews 1978-1984
Turgut Uyar's book trailers and interviews published in Elele magazine between 1978 and 1984 are brought together for the first time. Uyar, who aims to help the reader who is stuck between the variety of publications in choosing the books, draws attention with the comments he puts forward about the important poets and writers of the period. In his articles, which can be described as a monthly "reading diary", he discusses the "newly released" books of authors such as Melih Cevdet Anday, Yaşar Kemal, Adalet Ağaoğlu, Cemal Süreya, Edip Cansever, Sevim Burak, Selçuk Baran, Ahmet Oktay, Orhan Pamuk, as well as It also evaluates publishing problems, literary awards, and literary magazines.
The articles that Turgut Uyar wrote for the books that he wanted to be "read[ed] with gusto" allow us to see another, little-known aspect of him. Thanks to Bir Poetry, we have seen that Uyar, in addition to his identity as a poet, writes like a "critic", even though he does not admit it. The articles brought together in Let's Read Elele show that Uyar is an "avid reader" who follows the publishing world almost daily.
