In this book, Felicity Haynes addresses ethical problems that arise in educational practices and questions regarding the criteria of moral judgment on both theoretical and practical levels.

Ethics in Education is designed to help educators and students reflect on the ethics of their own understanding and practice and to give them the opportunity to discuss the appropriateness of their actions while engaging in dialogue with people who may have very different assumptions.

Towards this end, Haynes offers a theoretical reference framework that will help educators evaluate the ethical aspects of their own ideas, actions, and choices, and uses this framework as discussed and structured over the centuries, referencing thinkers such as Aristotle, Plato, Augustine, Locke, Mill, Kant, Moore, and Wittgenstein. It is based on philosophical theories; On the other hand, by discussing real cases experienced in various educational contexts, it tries to analyze ethical questions and problems encountered in practice, such as punishment, censorship, right to privacy, personal interest, freedom of expression, compliance with school uniform, in the context of the theoretical framework it has created.

Although the book focuses on the field of education and case examples are taken from educational contexts, the process of thinking about the ethical aspects of one's actions is equally necessary and important for other professions such as law, business, business administration, medicine and journalism. It can even be said that Haynes's work can be used not only by members of the professional fields in question, but also by anyone interested in the subject for an applied introduction to moral philosophy; because Ethics in Education critically questions the ways people interact and what it means to be a good person.

Through this book, Haynes encourages not only educators but each of us to be consistent in our actions and to treat others as we would want to be treated; It calls us to consider the short- and long-term consequences of our actions for ourselves and others, and to care about others. “The purpose of this book is to understand ethics as 'what should I do?' or 'would this be right?' To reveal that it is relevant to everyone who asks the question.

Ethics concerns anyone who makes moral judgments about others, praising or condemning other people's actions. It has a special importance in education; because teachers and administrators are beset with moral problems, and the responsibility for the education and moral well-being of their students, that is, the next generation, is in their hands more than ever.” F. Haynes
