Zaven Biberyan, whom we know so far with his novels, appears before the reader with his stories this time with his book titled "Dzovı" (Sea) in Armenian. Biberyan, who puts his masterful pen to work in his stories as well as in his novels, delves into the deep corridors of people's different moods with characters from different environments, cities and societies. In Dzovı, after visiting Bulgaria with the humorous expressions of a father who does not want to give his daughter to an anarchist, we share the hopes of workers who are illegally searching for treasure at a construction site in Beirut late at night. While we are saddened by the loneliness of Vahric or Burunsuz Kadriye, who tries to live his dream of becoming an actor by getting away from his wife, we worry about the prisoner who believes that the death penalty will not be approved, and we taste the pain of helplessness in the face of the expected death in the company of a friend who tries to postpone the truth by telling him the secrets of the sea. While we follow the trail of the lover who kidnapped a child bride from Zigana from her old husband, we witness Beba, who forgets that she went out to buy bread in Büyükada and walks around with her girlfriend all day and swims in the sea, recognizing her flourishing body.

Unlike his novels, where he prefers to pit people, especially family members, in conflict with each other, Zaven Biberyan characterizes the people in his stories as involuntarily submitting to the reality of life. While “Dzovı” allows us to get to know Biberyan's literary personality more closely, it offers the reader the opportunity to witness different faces of life with the events and people he narrates.
