What you haven't learned yet is always more valuable than what you know.
The Big School Called the World is a humble and good-hearted little guide for those just starting out in life from Rodari, who is described as one of Italy's best children's writers.
World-famous Italian writer and journalist Gianni Rodari (1920-1980) had a special interest in literature, writing and music from an early age. Rodari, who gave the highest grade to the essay he wrote during his student years because of his teacher Nazerano Ferrari's sentence "Humanity needs good-hearted people more than great people", worked to be a "good person" throughout his life. He participated in the resistance struggle against fascism in his country during the Second World War. After the war, he worked as a manager in important Italian newspapers. He started writing for children from 1950. His fame was reinforced worldwide when he received the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the most prestigious award given in the field of children's literature, in 1970.
