Undoubtedly, a person is curious about the history and future of himself and the land he was born and raised in. It is natural to want to learn this from a source that is close to the truth, and even a duty for responsible people.
Based on this idea, this study provides a situation assessment by holding a mirror to the past and present of the region for those who are curious about the history of Adıyaman and its surroundings. This book in your hands consists of three parts.
In the first section ; the introduction of the tribes that lived in Adıyaman and its surroundings between the 16th and 20th centuries, taken from the Ottoman Archive documents, is included. The communities in this section are discussed in three categories as tribe, community and clans, each of which is given a number and the names of the tribe, community or clan, the places they live, the community they are affiliated with and their ideas are clarified.
In the second part; the findings prepared by the General Staff in the 1970s regarding the living spaces of the tribes, communities and communities living in Adıyaman and its surroundings are conveyed.
In the third and last section ; the names, short histories, settlements where they live, ethnic identities and the language they speak today of the communities that still live in Adıyaman and its surroundings, many of which have lost their tribal characteristics, are introduced and detailed information is given on these subjects.
