Duino Laments - Hasan Ali Yücel Classics
Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926): Austrian writer, poet. He was born in Prague and studied at military schools. He later studied art and literature. He lived in Prague, Munich, Paris, Duino and various cities in Switzerland. He traveled frequently. He translated the works of names such as Valéry into German. He produced works in various genres, but he was best known for his poetry. He created a poem that did not belong to any poetry movement, reflected his concern for the secrets of his creation with deep images, and pushed the boundaries of the German language. This poetry culminated in the Sonnets to Orpheus and the Lamentations of Duino. Duino's Laments, in which the desire to live and the fear of death are put into poetry in a touching language, meets the reader once again with a brand new translation that is faithful to Rilke.
