The fact that the world Dracula comes from is somewhat ambiguous, that he is stuck between two worlds, that it represents an "external" geography for enlightenment Europe, that it remains outside the control limits of the mind, and that the uncanny awakens, complies with the rule. What is uncontrollable, what cannot be reversed by the world's familiar scientific-rational tools, has "infiltrated the country." As an immortal, Dracula is in an undefined place in the novel, between two occurrences/situations: Territorium incognito. Since he is a person caught between two such occurrences, whose existence is uncertain, he has neither a shadow nor a reflection in the mirror...
