Omar Khayyam: Although his birth and death dates vary according to various sources, II. Iranian poet, philosopher and scientist, who is believed to have been born in the mid-19th century and died around the first quarter of the 12th century. Nowadays, the quatrains of Khayyam, who is widely accepted as the creator of the "rubai" genre, have been translated into Turkish many times, especially by Yahya Kemal and Abdülbaki Gölpinarli. Sabahattin Eyüboglu's translation is one of the most popular among them.

Sabahattin Eyüboglu (1908-1973) was the vice president of the Translation Office founded by Hasan Âli Yücel and one of the most important cultural figures of the Republic period. The translations he made, either alone or in collaboration with a group, were among the pinnacle names of world culture, from Khayyam to Montaigne, from Plato to Shakespeare.
