Döner Ayna
"Does fate always come down on a person's head hitting them? When it comes down, it sometimes crushes them so much that they turn into a wretched worm; but sometimes, it seems to lift them off their feet and raise them to a happiness that angels cannot reach. Will the scene of life that will be reflected in Hanife's revolving mirror from now on take place in the blue skies or in the middle of the black and red society?"
In her novels of the Constitutional Era, Halide Edib chose the female characters she placed in the mansion family from the upper class. In these late novels, we see that she focused on mostly Anatolian-origin servants or adopted children who worked in the mansions of wealthy upstarts during World War II or in the luxurious apartments of educated, elite middle-class families during the Republican Era. Thus, through them she was able to talk about different life paths, geographical and social mobility.
