Diriliş
Resurrection, one of Tolstoy's three most important novels, is the novel of the shocking change that man undergoes in a corrupt society and the resurrection with conscience. Rich Prince Nekhludov pursues his ambitions and desires by seducing and abandoning the maid Maslova. Years later, Nekhludoff meets Maslova in a courtroom. Realizing that he pushed him into this quagmire, the prince will do his best to ensure justice is served and will wholeheartedly accept the transformation of this radical change in his life.
While Diriliş describes the crushing pressure of remorse, it also directs heavy criticism at criminal law, income distribution, nobility, property rights and social injustice. Tolstoy, who emphasizes moral values in his works, questions the possibility of resurrection of the human soul, conscience and faith killed by society in this novel.
"Being a writer at the time when literature took hold of Tolstoy was quite simple and pleasant, even if you had not achieved anything up to that time and still have nothing today... This is nothing more terrible than the opposite situation, because Tolstoy succeeds for all of us: Literature "It always fulfills all the hopes and expectations built on it."
