Didem Madak'ı Okumak
The work of the poet Didem Madak, who passed away in 2011, consists of three books that have been very popular in recent years and are circulating from hand to hand with interest: Grapon Papers, Ah'lar Ağaç and Pulbiber Mahallesi. In December 2014, Didem Madak's friends, critics, academics and passionate readers came together at a symposium and discussed different aspects of her work. Madak's poetics has been the subject of fruitful interpretation and discussion under headings such as identity, self, language, time and space relations, remembering and forgetting, literary canon and states of femininity.
The last years of Turkey, the period in which Didem Madak also wrote her work, are the years when political and cultural pressures on women gradually increased and women's social struggles rose to a different level. For this very reason, most of the articles brought together in this book, instead of looking at Didem Madak only from the perspective of literary criticism, adopt a broader perspective nourished by different disciplines and remind us of the experiences of being a woman in Turkey, of being both a woman and a poet. has a quality.
The intellectual effort shown in these papers also proves how productive discussion and interpretation on literary works and different reading styles can be by reconstructing the work in question in a sense.
