The most politically significant of these is the biography of five Jewish elites from the early period of the Republic: Jurist Gad Franko, Unionist Chief of Police Samuel Izisel, Roman Law Ordinarius Professor Mishon Ventura, lawyer Salamon Adato, the first non-Muslim deputy of the DP, and independent deputy of the One Party period. The life stories of these people, who are active advocates of Turkification policies for non-Muslims, provide a better understanding of the 'spirit' and effects of these policies. The section examining the "non-Muslim reserves for twenty kura" incident and the reactions towards German scientists of Jewish origin who came to Turkey in 1933 completes this description by illuminating the discrimination and xenophobia during the Single Party period. An important contribution of the book is the section that describes the last years of the Jews of Urfa in this city, on the occasion of the murder of a family, and reminds them of their presence here. Another part of the book includes the dramatic stories of the ships carrying Jewish refugees who tried to escape the Nazi Holocaust and go to Palestine under British mandate during the Second World War.
