Deniz: The Revolutionary's Job is to Make Revolution
Many books have been written and many memories have been told about Deniz Gezmiş and his THKO, which attempted to drive the motorcycles up the mountains as if they were driving them into the blue sky. Undoubtedly, there are still things to write about or things to criticise, but Mustafa Öner proves with his own book that, as the people say, "this rice holds more water". As he himself says, his is also a collective mind, collective labor. The "new" that emerged from this kind of intelligence and effort was revealed in Öner's pen. It is how the first, simplest clash of swords of the Turkish revolutionary movement, which began to ferment with the '68 uprising and stepped onto the stage of history in '71, is an absorbing source of continuity. An article has been written that describes, examines, critically reviews, laments and gives the epic the right to be an epic through the seas and THKO.
It is certain that younger generations will benefit most from the book. They will have the chance to look at the creations of those who ran the "first hundred meters", as the poet Can Yücel calls it, of the uninterrupted revolutionary race in the connection of "yesterday-today-tomorrow", from a pool of 45 years of experience. In the meantime, we hope that the “old people” will also dive into deeper thoughts.
