Essays-Francis Bacon
Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626) lived in an age that fluctuated between wealth and poverty, fame and decline, consistency and inconsistency, reason and superstition. Bacon's talents, the universality of his interests, the flexibility and inquisitiveness of his thought, are matched by very few people of his age. He recognizes past traditions and methods and adopts most of them, but not only that, he also knows how to overcome all of those traditions and methods with unexpected new observations and radical changes. In his Essays, Bacon, with the wisdom he established based on observations and experiments from different fields, is the namesake of "essay", Montaigne. He leaves. He does not explain his own self like Montaigne, but reveals a wisdom that can be applied to life. While doing this, he proves that he is a master of language with the rich images he creates. Although his Barony and Viscounthood have been forgotten, Bacon's writing is still fresh for four hundred years.
