Jack London's work titled The Iron Heel, published in 1907, is considered the first of the modern counter-utopian novels. The concept of counter-utopia, used to describe society in a totalitarian and oppressive system, is reflected in this book in the rise of an oligarchic tyranny in the United States. The Iron Heel, which also inspired George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, examines the changes that will take place in society and politics in the future. Although Jack London's prediction that there would be a collapse in the United States in the future did not come true, the author's views on international tensions coincide with real history, albeit with a difference of a few years. This conflict, which started in Iron Heel in 1913, actually broke out in 1914. Moreover, London prophetically predicted not only the events of 1914, but also the events leading up to the Second World War; He expressed how the fascist structure would lead the world into terror and what the revolutionary stance against this should be.
Unfortunately, the passage of time confirms London's prophecies.
