Değişen Kafalar
Thomas Mann's Changing Minds, published in Stockholm in 1940, XII. It approaches a century-old Indian legend from a different angle. Sridaman and Nanda are inseparable friends, even though they come from different castes and are very different from each other mentally and physically. Sridaman is frail with a delicate face, belonging to a merchant family of Brahmin lineage; Nanda is a strong and handsome young man who works as a blacksmith and herds cows. The friendship of these two young people who complement each other gains a new dimension when they meet the beautiful Sita. Sridaman and Sita get married. However, Sita has regrets about her choice. Their lives change direction in a very interesting way with the events that take place during a journey with Sita's family.
Thomas Mann causes a very rare event, intercultural interaction, with Changing Minds. Mann's novel, based on Indian legend, is inspired by Indian playwright Giris Karnad's award-winning play Hayavadana.
Mann has literally created a mythological Indian fantasy in his work. Changing Heads is a mythological and fantastic story that says a lot about motifs such as East and West, mind and body, friendship and love, eroticism and spiritual harmony.
