Define
The king of the villages, Görekli village, whose stones and soil are golden... In the time left behind from tobacco, a curiosity comes to those living in Görekli village. Many of them pursue the burial. Graves from ancient times, precious pots and pans, and cubes of gold in the graves are what everyone dreams of. The ignorant and poor villager has no hope other than finding a big treasure and getting rich quickly. A few copper coins and broken jugs are not a dead end from under the ground. They don't know the value of what they find, so they give it to buyers for a few cents. This is the fate of the village whose people are poor but whose soil is rich.
Seyit Ali wholeheartedly believed that he would find the treasure. He has forgotten the sustenance of his wife and children and lives day and night dreaming of treasure. But he needs money, or at least a like-minded partner, to search for the burial. By consulting the Quran, praying, and hoping for help from the recited rose branch, Seyit Ali and his two partners secretly start digging under the ground at night, even though they have a lot to lose in this way.
Talip Apaydin conveys with an impressive power of observation the helplessness of the Anatolian peasants, who are condemned to live a day-to-day life by pursuing small accounts, fed by superstitions, and doomed to always be deceived, and the insensitivity of the upper segments of society. In addition to being a social analysis, Define is a striking work that prompts every reader to make self-criticism.
