Dede Korkut (approximately IX-XI. centuries): A semi-legendary sage from the Bayat tribe of the Oghuz and the narrator of the epic stories that bear his name. Information about him is largely based on rumors and the expressions in the Dede Korkut Stories. Dede Korkut, who narrates the traditions, lives and attitudes of the Oghuz people towards various events in his stories, has been described as the sage of bards and advised goodness, honesty and virtue in his epics, which he conveyed in an enthusiastic style. His epics, which are the products of oral folk literature, have survived for centuries and have survived to the present day by being written down in the 15th century.
