Dede Korkut
There is no one who has not heard the name "Dede Korkut" in their childhood.
Dede Korkut, about whom we did not know or learned much at that age, is a Turkish "ancestor" who is the narrator and compiler of stories that reflect the traditions and customs, lifestyles and value judgments of the Turks.
These stories, which were written down in the 14th and 15th centuries, but are known to date back much further, are also called "epic". The simplicity and clarity of its language and the fluency of its expression have enabled this work to reach today.
In addition to universal themes such as the love of nature and the value given to everything human, a poetic sensitivity permeates every line of the stories.
This masterpiece, whose original name was Kitâb-ı Dedem Korkud alâ Lisan-ı Taife-i Oğuzân, was simplified by Adnan Binyazar and brought to our young readers.
