The Spiritual World of the Second Man Book Description
Mustafa İsmet İnönü was the closest person to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during the establishment of the Republic of Turkey and his uncompromising and knowledgeable helper and supporter in laying the foundations of a Modern Secular state.
While establishing the Secular Republic of Turkey, Atatürk took these issues concerning "social life" out of religion, and did not impose any restrictions or prohibitions on people's rights to belief and worship.
Ataturk's statement on this issue, "Whatever is compatible with reason is also compatible with religion" is important. He wanted to explain that the Religion of Islam basically complies with "reason".
In this research, it will be seen that one point constitutes the main feature of the study. As confirmed by many people I have interviewed and who are interested in this subject; When we look at the issue of secularism only within the framework of religion and belief, we cannot fully understand the meaning and importance of secularism for Turkey. If the single most important principle underlying the modern Republic of Turkey is secularism, then; The basis of all revolutions is secularism.
İsmet İnönü also had all kinds of knowledge and practices regarding religious belief and worship; But like every "secular" citizen, he has never been involved in an activity to show this to everyone.
For all these reasons, I thought that the appropriate description for the content of the book was "The Spiritual World of the Second Man". Appreciation belongs to the readers.
