  • The lands known as Upper Mesopotamia have been the homeland of countless tribes since ancient times, some of which have survived until today, some of which have faded away over time, and some of which have melted into other peoples. Civilizations have seen wars. Due to its strategic location, it has also been the focus of attention of colonial powers and imperialist states.
