Danton'un Ölümü
Georg Büchner (1813-1837): The writer, who had a significant influence on the expressionist play school, is considered one of the founders of contemporary German theatre. He studied medicine at the universities of Strasbourg and Giessen with the idea of continuing his father's profession. Inspired by the Paris uprising in 1830, when Büchner formed a secret group and published a pamphlet calling for revolution, he was denounced by the peasants and had to flee to Switzerland, where he died in exile in 1837, leaving behind five works. His dramas The Death of Danton and the unfinished Woyzeck were influenced by Shakespeare and the German Romantic Sturm and Drang movement, but were far ahead of their time in quality. He also has a story called Lenz and a comedy called Leonce and Lena, and his play Pietro Aretino is lost. The Death of Danton, which is about the French Revolution, is an impressive drama about how people who take part in major social changes question themselves, their environment and the developing events as humans, as their positions and attitudes change.
