Büyükelçi Morgenthau'nun Öyküsü
Henry Morgenthau was the United States ambassador to Ottoman Turkey between 1913 and 1916. The Story of Ambassador Morgenthau, in which he collected his wartime memoirs, is one of the most important testimonies regarding the Ottoman Empire's involvement in World War I. Morgenthau was, at least, the most realistic observer of the period, as the person who was entrusted with the diplomatic affairs of nine countries during the war. His memoirs are now an invaluable source for historians.
Morgenthau witnessed the 1915 Armenian Genocide. While gathering first-hand information from consuls in the interior of the Ottoman Empire, he opposed Ottoman leaders, particularly Talat and Enver, regarding the treatment of Armenians. The Story of Ambassador Morgenthau is an indictment against the Ottoman Turks regarding the Armenian Genocide.
