50 Years of Migration from Turkey to Austria Book Description
50 Years of Migration from Turkey to Austria Book Description
The first notes of this work began to be kept when the author, who settled in Vienna in 1998, pioneered the publication of a monthly magazine as of January 1999. As of January 2007, television news programs and documentaries came into play. By 2009, countless news, research and articles on the subject; written, voice and video calls had accumulated. The idea of such a book was finalized during this process.
The migration of people of Turkish origin to Austria as a labor force passed its 50th anniversary in 2014! It was time to summarize 50 years in a book. What is tried to be told in this book is the story of those who cannot tastefully call the lands where they were born, grew up to a certain age, migrated and settled for the sake of a better life, and stayed until their death as "homeland", "homeland" or "homeland". They seemed to spend their lives on a seesaw, going up and down between the "first homeland" and the "second homeland" or the "motherland" and the "new homeland".
There are many exciting and adventurous aspects of people going out of their hometown and living in countries they have never known before. After a certain age, if a person's eyes wander and he decides to go to another country in the world and choose to live there, what could anyone say? However, people who were forced to leave their homeland, not willingly, or were even expelled, even if they went to a place "as beautiful as heaven", they only went with one side of themselves; The other side of them will always remain behind, in their homeland. Class, religious and national affiliations determine in different ways how to stay settled in the country of immigration; People of Turkish origin in Austria continue to divide, align and make different friends and enemies in their "new homeland". It is no longer just a community of workers, but a society divided into classes and layers.
One of the aims of this study is to serve by providing data to break superficial, prejudiced and wholesale approaches regarding Turkish origin communities defined as "New Austrians".
