Bütün Zafer Şarkıları
Pindar (518-438 BC) is a Greek poet whose works are best preserved among his lyrical poems and have survived to this day. All Victory Songs constitute the largest corpus of this genre (epinikion) that we can reach. Pindar, who belonged to a Theban noble family, became famous for his fierce poetic rivalry with Simeonides of Keos and his nephew Bakchylides, who were his toughest rivals during his time. The brilliance of the dramatic elements he used extensively in his poems caused him to gain great admiration and to be taken as a model by the pioneering poets of Latin poetry such as Horatius and Catullus. Although the myths used in victory songs have a quality that can be followed, the intense metaphorical language used and the depth of the styles and maxims that challenge the poetic form require the reader's effort to penetrate the songs.
