Nausea
20. Jean-Paul Sartre, one of the leading intellectuals of the 20th century, has deeply influenced the thought of existentialism as well as the whole century with his novels, plays and thought writings. Nausea is the first novel of Jean-Paul Sartre, one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century. Sartre, who was the spokesperson of the existential movement that emphasized the radical freedom of the individual, made his name known with this novel published in 1938. In this book, written in diary form, he described the disgust that Roquentin, the hero of the novel, felt towards the world. This disgust was directed not only at the outside world but also at Roquentin's own body. Although some critics evaluated the novel as an expression of a sick situation, a kind of neurotic escape, Nausea was an original work that reflected strong individualist and anti-social thoughts and included many issues that would later form the foundations of Sartre's philosophy. Buluti, which tells the transformation of Roquentin when he came face to face with "Existence", became one of the cult books of existentialism. We present this book, which has an important place in the art of the 20th century novel, with the masterful translation of Selâhattin Hilâv.
